Viro sugar factory employs 262 people from Virovitica and its surroundings. Besides the workers with permanent contract, Viro employs five more workers with temporary renewable contracts, as well as 70 to 80 seasonal workers during the sugar beet processing campaign.
All workers are covered with the Collective Agreement. It determines the rights, obligations and ways of realization of those rights and obligations, as well as the ways and procedures of resolving potential disputes. Collective Agreement regulates the following aspects: employees" health and safety, protection of employees with reduced working abilities, leaves and absences, night work and work in shifts, working hours, trainee internships, salaries and compensations (severance pays, rewards, gifts for employees" children, solidarity aid, field work compensations, compensations for separate living, compensations to students on training, compensations for use of the private car for company purposes, special health insurance, education and training).
Structure of workers with permanent contracts according to qualifications

In order to increase the ratio of highly-educated employees, each year Viro employs a number of people with university degrees, and continuously works on changing the structure of employees through re-qualification or additional professional development. The factory regularly organizes specialized seminars and enables employees to gain new knowledge and skills, in accordance with implementation of new technologies.
During the last year Viro organized additional education in the following areas:
- Postgraduate studies in management
- Modern systems of management
- Employee health and safety
- Export – licensed customs officer
- Specialist education – boiler management, operating forklift truck
Besides investing in education, Viro provides its employees with Christmas and summer bonuses according to the Collective Agreement, and additionally provides Easter bonus, stimulations, free school books for employees" children, scholarships for employees" children, student training and probationary for employees" children, as well as jubilee-awards.
Likewise, we are proud that most of our workers subscribed shares during the initial public offering in January 2006, thus becoming Viro shareholders.
